3. System support for remote procedure calls
As pointed out in the introduction, the pure and simple assimilation of a remote procedure call to a local procedure call comes up against numerous technical difficulties, which are presented here. In particular, this section looks at the fault handling model (which sets the semantics of the RPC), how to deal with the heterogeneity of different platforms or client/server programming languages, and naming and binding issues.
