1. Software engineering modeling
Modeling is a technical activity that forms part of many engineering processes. Its aim is to provide an approximate representation of the system or product to be analyzed, designed or manufactured. This representation, called a model, contributes to the study of the system's technical characteristics, the phenomena involved in its operation or its architecture.
The development of a model is often motivated by the significant complexity of the system under study. This complexity makes it difficult, if not impossible, to represent the system globally and exhaustively in sufficient detail to understand, define or document it. Generally speaking, therefore, models are abstractions, i.e. they are developed in relation to the restricted set of properties we wish to study.
