As seen above, in this type of approach, XML documents are stored in relational tables with special column types (native XML), capable of processing XML. The possibilities offered by this type of solution are therefore highly dependent on the DBMS used.

In Oracle, for example, the native XMLType type can be used to store, query, access, transform and manipulate XML data .
