The widespread deployment of technologies for capturing, transporting, and storing ${\text{CO}}_{\text{2}}$ is one of the solutions for rapidly reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This requires mastering the three main technological building blocks discussed in this article. For each of these, the risk of corrosion poses a major—and potentially critical—obstacle. This risk is most critical for pipeline transportation infrastructure: the volumes and flow rates of gas involved are very high, and any leak could have extremely serious consequences.
