China is now the world's largest producer and consumer of hydrogen. More than 34 Mt of hydrogen were produced in China in 2021 :

• 80.3% from coal, natural gas, oil and methanol ;

• 18.5% as an industrial by-product ;

• 0.95% by water electrolysis (of which 5.2% by electrolysis coupled with renewable electricity).
