2. Substrate surface treatments
A deposit, whatever its quality, must adhere to the substrate, and this depends to a great extent on its preparation. The vast majority of substrates are metallic, and therefore oxidized on the surface. The successive steps are then [2] [7] [10] [11]: cleaning the surface, optimizing the roughness profile, removing or adapting the original oxide layer, for example by nitriding.
Abrasive sprays in grain form are the most effective and reliable way of removing oxidized layers from the surface of parts, as well as any other foreign matter on the steel surface, such as old paint.
