6. Parachuting
Finishing is the set of operations used to modify the appearance of "bare" packaging in order to personalize it for aesthetic and/or functional purposes. Finishing can be carried out either on the manufacturing site (glassworks), by independent specialist companies, or on the product's packaging premises.
Two main categories of finishing can be distinguished (these categories are sometimes combined); among the most commonly used are :
glass removal: acid etching, sandblasting, laser marking;
addition of other materials: inkjet marking, screen printing, hot transfer, pad printing, thin or thick polymer coatings, metallization, pre-labeling by the glassmaker, labeling by the packer.
