As these heat up, they re-emit thermal radiation, mainly in the far infrared range with wavelengths above 5,000 nm, for which glass is practically opaque.
Incoming energy is trapped in the room and the temperature of the ambient air rises, sometimes causing discomfort in summer and even winter (figure
