There are various techniques for preparing glasses and optical fibers with nanoparticles. These can either be formed in the glass matrix during heat treatment, or added to the glass matrix. After briefly explaining how to prepare a glass and a fiber, we will describe the main techniques used recently to prepare glasses and fibers with nanoparticles.
