Laminated tempered glass: manufacturing processes and recommendations

It is possible to produce high-quality tempered laminated glass economically and with production yields equivalent to those of ordinary laminated glass. To achieve this, the manufacturing process must be improved. First of all, it will be necessary to improve the tempering process and impose higher quality criteria than those described in the standards for annealed glass (NF EN 572-2), tempered glass (NF EN 12150) and toughened glass (EN NF 1863-1). In particular, tolerances on general and local deformations must be reinforced. Tempered glass must be heat-treated (HST) before assembly. The choice and thickness of interlayers will then depend on the production tool.
