Resistance to oxidation and the stability and maintenance of mechanical properties at temperature are critical for CMC applications in the aerospace sector
. In some applications, temperatures can reach up to 1,600°C, in air or under the high pressure of gas mixtures containing oxidizing species. The use of materials capable of raising the operating temperatures of aircraft engine parts such as turbine blades would eliminate the need for cooling, improve engine efficiency and reduce fuel consumption and NOx emissions
