Geosynthetics for soil reinforcement

In the early 1980s, the Comité Français des Géotextiles (CFG) began drafting its own standards. These first draft standards were subsequently published by AFNOR.

Subsequently, the CFG continued its pre-normative work.

1983 saw the creation of 2 separate commissions on geosynthetics: geotextiles and geomembranes, which merged in 1990. In 2002, the latter became the Geosynthetics Commission, integrating related products. It currently comprises some forty members, including manufacturers, laboratories and universities, users, technical support and regulatory authorities. It appoints representatives for international projects, both at European (CEN) and international (ISO) level.
