During numerical simulations of thin part forming processes (stamping or hydroforming), the large deformations involved mean that the elements of the initial mesh undergo significant distortion. Mesh refinement avoids significant distortion of elements during deformation. It guarantees the convergence of the calculation and ensures that the geometry of the domain in contact with the tools is respected.
