6. General rules for drawing parts

Note :

The reader is referred to the articles [M 780]Steel casting and molding. General, [M 786]Solidification and [M 810]Aluminum casting and molding.

  • Permanent pattern graphite casting

    All the standard rules for sand casting aluminum parts apply. In particular, avoid small connection radii (risk of cracking during solidification).

  • Lost wax casting

    All the layout rules for aluminum and steel castings can be applied. However, the use of ceramic cores, integrated into wax patterns, to produce thin conduits impossible to obtain by coating, is still under development.
