1. Foundry possibilities
Casting offers a wide range of possibilities, which need to be recalled before moving on to the study of manufacturing techniques. These include
-
Alloy composition: all alloys are castable, which is why the foundry offers a virtually unlimited range of alloys, including :
common ferrous alloys (cast iron, steel) ;
non-ferrous alloys (aluminium, bronze, magnesium, zamac, etc.);
special alloys, stainless steels, refractory steels, non-machinable steels, difficult to shape using other manufacturing processes.
It's the only process that enables us to match the alloy to the part and its intended service with the greatest possible precision.
