2. Nozzle zone operation
The general morphology of the tuyere zone is well known from blast furnace dips and tuyere borings ([M 7 400], figures 8 to 10). At the nose of each tuyere, two strongly interacting phenomena take place: on the one hand, the combustion of coke and injected fuels, and on the other, the formation of a cavity in the coke mass resulting from the kinetic energy of the wind coming from the tuyere.
