1.1 Constitution of the blast furnace iron charge

The operation of modern blast furnaces cannot cope with the variability of raw materials coming directly from the mine. That's why today's iron charge is essentially made up of prepared materials, agglomerates or pellets (figure 1 ), obtained from mixtures of abundant fine ores.
