9. Industrial cases
Extractive metallurgy recovers indium as a by-product, mainly from zinc metallurgy, from residues in which at least 30% of the indium is extractable. Recovery close to 80% is achieved in some cases. . But indium is also recovered as a by-product of lead, copper and tin metallurgies.
It should be remembered that, given the strategic nature of indium, industrial processes are only very briefly described in the literature, which is why some of the cases cited below are not very developed.
