With the closure of most of Europe's coal mines, mining coking plants have all but disappeared, replaced by steelmaking coking plants integrated into steelmaking sites, often located by the sea and able to receive large quantities of imported coal.
Current economic coking unit
To date, 1.5 Mt/year of all-raw coke is produced from around 2.1 Mt of moist coal, producing 600 to 750 Mm
