According to the Minerals Handbook [4] , reserves can be broken down as shown in table 3 .

The Clarke grade, the average grade of the element in the earth's crust, is 0.005 g/t. It is equal to that of gold. Grades mined range from 1 to 10 g/t for bedrock deposits. The life of the resource, based on current consumption, is around 200 years. The countries with the largest reserves are South Africa and Russia. They are also the main producing countries (see [Doc.
