Metallurgy of selenium and tellurium

The breakdown of selenium uses in 2005 is shown in table 3 .

In glassmaking, selenium is used as a colorant or bleach, and to reduce insolation through architectural glazing. Pigments include red cadmium sulfoselenides, used in ceramics for their temperature stability, in plastics and in traffic lights. Finally, in the explosives industry, cadmium is used in the composition of primers.

Chemical applications include rubber additives, catalysts, dietary foods and anti-dandruff shampoos.
