8. Evolution
Since its first application as an anti-corrosion primer with high penetration power, this technique has evolved in different directions, leading to specific products adapted to new needs: levelling power of the base metal roughness, use in very high thicknesses (35 to 40 µm) to replace primers, evolution towards low-temperature polymerizing products (150 to 160°C), allowing the introduction of plastics, product with low pigment content for better bath stability...
New developments are currently focusing on even more environmentally-friendly products: elimination of lead and other heavy metals, and an even greater contribution to reducing solvent emissions (VOCs: volatile organic compounds).
The industry is already using lead-free products that perform at least as well as conventional products, and are virtually solvent-free.
