2. Composition and structure

Electroless nickel and electrolytic nickel differ significantly in terms of purity and structure.

Electrolytic nickel purity exceeds 99%.

Electroless nickel deposited from a hypophosphite bath [1] contains nickel and phosphorus.

This phosphorus content (which can range from 3% to 12%) has a major influence on the properties of the deposit.

Low phosphorus" refers to a phosphorus content of 2-5%.

Medium phosphorus" corresponds to a phosphorus content of 6 to 9%.

The designation "high phosphorus" corresponds to a phosphorus content of 10 to 13%.
