6. Other enamel substrates
6.1 Cast iron
Parts to be enameled are generally between 2 and 5 mm thick. Enamellable cast irons are :
flake-graphite grey cast iron, preferably type A ;
spheroidal graphite cast irons.
The best enameling results are obtained when the structure of the cast iron, after enamel firing, has become highly ferritic. .
