6. Industrial prospects
Applying thermoplastic films to steel combines the properties of both steel and plastic film. Steel provides rigidity, high thermal stability, safety, formability (stamping, bending), assembly (welding, gluing, riveting), paintability (cataphoresis) and recyclability. Other polymer properties include low density, good appearance, resistance to chemical agents, thermal, electrical and vibro-acoustic insulation, and a wide range of melt and liquid processing options (injection, extrusion, overmolding, roller application, etc.).
