As defined by G. Whitesides , "Microfluidics is the science and technology of systems that manipulate small volumes of fluid (10–9 to 10–18 L), using channels the size of a few tens of micrometers".
Principal curvatures
At a point M on the surface, consider a rotating plane, perpendicular at M to the plane tangent to the surface. Locally, this plane intersects the surface in a curve. Each of the curves thus constructed is associated with its curvature at M. The minimum and maximum values of the curvature are called "principal curvatures"....
