1. Hollow-body blow-molding processes
Hollow-body manufacturing techniques combine a preliminary thermoplastic polymer melting operation with a blow-molding operation.
The conditions under which the first operation is carried out will, depending on the different processes, affect the properties of the final object.
The extrusion blow-molding technique (figure

) shapes the polymer from its molten state (viscous or viscoelastic state). The structure and arrangement of the macromolecular chains are determined mainly by the cooling of the hollow body in contact with the cold mold, and to a lesser extent by the history of deformations and stresses to which the molten material has been subjected during blow molding.
