Figure 12 clearly shows that the carbon fiber market is growing significantly, so we can consider that carbon fiber composites are still a "young" product in the materials development sense.

The various phases in the young history of carbon fibers are also worth noting.

Figure 13 shows the breakdown of applications in the sports, industry and aeronautics sectors, as well as future developments.

While growth in the sports sector remains moderate (6% p.a. over seven years), there has been considerable growth in aeronautical (+17% p.a.) and industrial (+14% p.a.) applications.
