• To produce a composite material, a set of reinforcements is wetted and coated with a matrix (usually a thermosetting resin) to create a continuous material. The matrix must remain liquid for the time it takes to completely invest the reinforcements.

  Pressure exerted on the composite will calibrate the thickness of the finished part, compressing the reinforcements and perhaps ejecting excess resin.
