4. Extrusion: line design
Extrusion is a continuous process in which elements such as extruder throughput, pulling speed and shear rate are directly or complexly interdependent.
In the preceding paragraphs, we have stressed the importance of monitoring shear rate and material temperature, selecting a screw with a high compression ratio and long pumping zone, the need for precise tooling, and the quality of regulation.
Here we'll look at the basic rules to follow when designing a complete line.
