5. Natural rubber properties

The density of natural rubber is 0.93 g/cm 3 .

Unfilled, vulcanized natural rubber has good tensile strength, with a breaking force of the order of 20 MPa and more. Unfilled vulcanized synthetic rubbers are generally not as strong (figure 6 b). Figure 6 a shows the raw (unvulcanized) force-elongation curves for NR natural rubber and IR unfilled synthetic polyisoprene.
