3. Chain formation in polymer melts

A polymer melt is an incompressible monomer liquid with no concentration fluctuations; it scatters neither photons nor neutrons. The polymer's conformation cannot be obtained by this experiment. This absence of scattering, s (q) = 0 in equation (1) , corresponds to compensation between intrachain and interchain concentration fluctuations, i.e. :

N2P(q)=nS2(q)
