4. REACH and thermoplastics
As mentioned above, polymers are not currently subject to registration under REACH (with rare exceptions).
The same cannot be said for all the products added during compounding to give thermoplastic polymers, elastomers and rubbers their final properties.
Added ingredients include fillers, plasticizers, antioxidants, colorants and specific flame-retardant additives. In each of these families, certain substances are regulated (or even prohibited) with regard to their use.
