In order to limit the number of new test temperatures and durations for conventional exposure tests, which often differ little from those already in use, it seemed essential to establish temperature and duration scales. Temperatures range from 1,000 to – 279°C, and durations from 1 h to 5 years.

Unless absolutely justified by technical imperatives, it is essential to select test temperatures and durations within these ranges.

This registered standard is currently being transformed into an approved standard (new index: NF T 51-000).
