2. Simulations of dislocation dynamics. The case of CFCs
Dislocation dynamics models first appeared in the late eighties, and are currently enjoying a boom. The scale of the volumes studied is ideally situated between atomic simulations of the molecular dynamics type and numerical models dealing with continuous media, such as finite element techniques. In this description of crystalline plasticity, dislocations are treated individually, while the elastic medium in which they move is treated as a continuous medium. In this paragraph, we will only present the case of face-centered cubic crystallographic structures, for which current numerical codes are the most advanced.
