4.1 Purpose of testing large specimens

Resilience tests are carried out on small bars which, while they have the advantage of using little material and are therefore essential for monitoring production, do not always provide a reliable transition temperature. For safety reasons, it is preferable, as already indicated (§ 2.2.1
