2. Obtaining nanostructured materials
Two ways of obtaining nanostructured materials are possible:
They can be produced by the progressive deposition of atoms
(method bottom up, upwards),
They can be produced by transforming the macroscopic structure
(method top down, downward).
By using only the main techniques; inert gas condensation and
electroplating fall within the first methods, trituration (or mechanical
alloying), the crystallization of amorphous solids and severe deformations
are secondary methods. Article [MA 4 026] discusses in detail a certain
number of these techniques. They will therefore be merely mentioned
here. However, processes by electrolysis, crystallization...
