7. Correspondence between different hardness scales
The purpose of standard NF EN ISO 18265 (June 2004) is to describe hardness conversion strips and their rules of use. The Vickers hardness scale is used as a reference, as it covers the entire hardness range of steels. These conversion bands apply to metal alloys, for products with a homogeneous structure and a thickness greater than 2 mm.
The standard also provides the correspondence between hardness measurements and R
m
breaking load. It should be noted that this correspondence depends on the materials.
