Depending on how metal matrix composites (MMCs) are developed (Figure
5
), before the MMCs are made, the metal matrix can be found in various forms:
in massive form (ingot, sponge, granulate, etc.) for the various liquid processes and for most vapour-phase processes (except for chemical deposits);
in powder form for all solid-phase processes.
