1. Analysis of transformation points
Any physico-chemical phase change in alloys, be it, for steels, the α ® γ transformation or the formation and dissolution of precipitates, is accompanied by variations in physical or mechanical properties. Thermal, dilatometric, magnetic and electrical resistivity analysis methods are among the most convenient for measuring these variations. Optical analysis can be used to monitor the kinetics of these transformations, using special devices such as heating plates.
