Experts from various European countries have developed a common, rational denomination for cast irons (see table
3
). The prefix EN obviously indicates a grade belonging to the European standard. The following letters GJ indicate a cast iron. Next comes a letter designating the graphite morphology, i.e. S for spheroidal, followed by two numbers: the first corresponds to tensile strength in MPa and the second to elongation at break in %.
