4.1 Martensitic carbon steels
The most common martensitic steels contain around 0.35% carbon, with metallic additives (Cr, Ni, Mo...) up to 7%. The mechanical strength of unhardened martensite increases rapidly with carbon content. It is much greater than that of the structures presented in the previous paragraphs (figure 15 )....
