Technological properties of aluminum and its wrought alloys

Brazing is the process of joining metal parts using a liquid filler metal with a lower melting point than that of the parts to be joined, wetting the base metal which is not involved in the construction of the joint by melting. .

A distinction is made between two types of brazing for aluminum and its alloys:

• brazing using a filler metal with a melting temperature above 425°C; the filler metal is an aluminum-based alloy;

• soft soldering using a filler metal with a melting temperature below 425°C; this filler metal is based on heavy metals (Zn, Pb, Cd, Sn, etc.).
