Table 2 shows the mechanical strength ranges obtainable with each of the main series of wrought aluminum alloys.
In fact, these characteristics are likely to vary quite considerably depending on a number of factors, the main ones of which are mentioned below.
2.1 Influence of position and direction of test specimen sampling
Generally speaking, the mechanical properties of aluminum alloys can be considered relatively isotropic. However, on thick rolled, forged or extruded products, properties in the cross direction may be lower than in the long (or longitudinal) direction
