The secondary circuit provides the link between the secondary of the power transformer and the furnace. It therefore includes a section of flexible cable, to allow furnace movement, and a fixed busbar.

• Flexible cables

  Modern furnaces use water-circulating cables (mark Q on figure 17), so as to reduce the number of cables, and of as short a length as possible, taking into account furnace movements (tilting for pouring and pivoting of the roof for loading), to minimize reactance.
