Blast furnace slag

Rock slag is obtained by pouring liquid slag into a pit and allowing it to cool as slowly as possible. The pit may be located, as at blast furnace no. 4 in Dunkirk, near the blast furnace casting hall, and the slag is poured directly into it via a spout at the end of the slag channel.
