2. Gold solutionizers
Contact between the cyanide leach solution and the gold is essential for its dissolution. In addition, it is necessary to ensure the introduction of air or oxygen. These two requirements guided the mechanical design of the equipment.
Two classes of reactor meet these requirements: agitated open reactors and closed or autoclave reactors. The latter are used to oxidize sulfides containing invisible gold, which is released and recovered in the sludge. The sludge is then washed and cyanidized in stirred reactors at atmospheric pressure.
