2. Casting processes with two reactors in series

The failure of most single-stage attempts to produce pig iron (or even steel!) directly from iron ore has led to increased interest in using two reactors in series to produce liquid metal. The main success story in this field is the COREX process ( COREX cast iron production process).

2.1 Principles
