The Finex process

The success of the 1.5 Mt/year industrial plant at Pohang [7] provides a clearer picture of the performance of the FINEX [7] process, confirming the results of the demonstration unit described above.

They can be summarized according to three criteria:

• Production

  This unit has already produced cast iron at a rate of 4,200 t/day, close to the target nominal value of 4,300 t/day.

• Energy consumption

  We're already at 780 kg/t of cast iron, including 207 kg injected into the nozzles, and we hope to get down to 750 kg/t of cast iron....
