In units where new scrap is simply remelted, the metal is either returned in the liquid state in ladles, or cast in large blocks weighing between 450 and 1,000 kg [this practice is widespread in the USA, and these large blocks are known by the acronym RSI (Remelted Scraps Ingot )].
In the integrated recycling plants and in some others, the metal is shaped according to the requirements of further processing, and the classic equipment of aluminum processing plants is present:
billets (standard diameter 250 mm, length 6 m) for the manufacture of sections and bars by extrusion;
plates (thickness 400 mm, width 1,600 mm, length 6 m) for rolling;...
